Jayhawks Finish 1-1 in Monroe CC Tournament

ROCHESTER, NY - Jamestown Community College's (JCC) men's basketball team came home from the Monroe Community College basketball tournament with a 1-1 record after topping Sullivan County Community College 98-60 before falling to Cecil College 91-78.

A fantastic night of shooting the ball propelled JCC to the win over Sullivan. The Jayhawks shot 51.4% from the floor, including 52% from three-point land.

Jamestown was led by freshman Travis Castro, who poured in a game-high 30 with six triples of his own.

Marcus Wynter (15), Federico Foddai (13), and Robert Russel (10) also hit double digits.

Wynter also led the team in rebounding with 11 to finish off a double-double.

The celebration was short-lived with a game against Cecil on deck.

JCC looked strong in the early going, building a lead as much as 18 in the first half, but attrition took them down as the Jayhawks only traveled eight guys for the tournament.

Foddai led the way with 22 points; Tamir Barrant was just behind with 20. Castro's 17 and Gabriel Mastrosimone's 11 rounded out those in double figures.

Wynter, again, had a double-double, this time adding 12 assists.

Jamestown now sits at 1-3 on the year, with a road date at Community College of Allegheny County on deck on Tuesday, November 12th, at 7:00 PM.
