It was another thrilling day for the Cyclones in Florida as they met their match in the Royals. The game started as a pitching duel with some quick outs. The Royals scored in the second, and the Cyclones promptly countered after Preston Lund (1-for-3) singled, Mateo Velazquez (1-for-4, 2B) doubled, Christian Rosales walked and Jayden Armstrong grounded into a double play that scored one.
The Cyclones took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third after Andrew Phelan (3-for-5, HR, 2 RBIs) and Timothy O'Connell (2-for-4) got on from singles, and Phelan scored on a wild pitch. Before the inning was over, O'Connell stole home.
The Royals retook the lead after some hits and luck, up 4-3 by the eighth inning. In their last at-bats and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Ryder Johnson (1-for-4, 3B) knocked a triple to right field. Phelan was up next and hit an inside the park homerun to centerfield to solidify the Cyclone victory.
Troy Vosburgh and Lucas Hicks combined for 10 strikeouts and each allowed just two runs in the victory. Vosburgh earned the win.
