Iowa Falls, IA – Ellsworth Community College found itself down 6-1 after the opening frame before knotting the game at 6-6. All tied up at 8-8 after seven innings, the Panthers scored four runs in the eight to earn the 12-9 victory.
ECC (14-16) tallied 15 hits in the opener, with five players having multiple knocks and five extra base hits. Ella Garstang went 3-4 with a triple and Kendra Rohner went 3-4. Alli Paulsen had a three-bagger and a three RBI. Taryn Petty and Mylee Taylor (two) each had doubles as well.
Peytin Clemensen started in the circle and allowed eight hits, eight runs, walked six and struck out three. Hailey Sheaffer got the win going the final 2.1 innings with three hits, one run, a walk and two strike outs.
The high powered offense carried into game two with the Panthers tallying the 21-2 win in five innings. The difference maker was the fourth frame ECC putting up 10 runs. Eight different players had hits, with Ainsley Brown going 4-4 with a home run and four RBI. Petty also went 3-4 with a double and five runs batted in. Julissia Arias (2-2), Garstang, Paulsen, Emmalee Bell, Avery Somers, Emery Walton and Emma Stewart all had hits in the contest.
Kaitlyn Mick went the distance in the circle, throwing five innings and allowing five hits, two runs and neither were earned.
