Red Hawks set program record in 115-83 win versus Camp

HICKORY, N.C. — The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team set a couple of program records in its regular-season opener on Friday against Camp Community College.

The Red Hawks defeated the Hurricanes 115-83, and in the process, broke two program records for most points in a season opener and most points in a first win of the season.

Levi Robinson led CVCC (1-0) in its victory with 20 points off the bench, while Zackery Goodman and Kobe Hood added 19 and 18 points each, respectively.

Catawba Valley battled through some early foul trouble in the first half to take a 48-37 halftime lead behind five first-half 3-pointers. Goodman made three of those 3-point baskets, and Robinson scored a team-leading 12 points.

The Red Hawks exploded offensively in the second half, outscoring the Hurricanes 67-46 during the half to seal their first win of the 2024-25 campaign.

Seven Red Hawks reached double figures in scoring, including Robinson, Goodman, Hood, Zion Dixon (15), Benton Wofford (12), Bryson Bowman (10) and Josh Moore (10).

The Catawba Valley Community College men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday for a home non-conference contest against the Montreat JV team. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Tarlton Complex. Admission is $5.
