Jackson Beats Lumberjacks

ACC women's basketball team closed out the opening weekend of the basketball season with a 78-44 loss to Jackson College at the Terrace By Hotel Tip-off Classic on Saturday.

For the second straight day in the tourney, the Lumberjacks played a tough first quarter, trailing only 24-19 to the Jets, but were overwhelmed in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, being outscored 39-12. As Jackson led at the half, 49-24 and 63-31 after three quarters.

Saige Flaugher led the Jacks with 15 points (including 11 fof 12 from the free throw line) and eight rebounds. Bryce Roy scored seven points, including five in the first quarter. Abby Platt and Jessie Ross each scored six points. Jena Wambold had five rebounds while Anna Herbolsheimer and Cierra Tetz each pulled down four.

ACC (0-2) hosts its annual alumni game next Saturday, Nov. 9 before returning to play the home opener on Saturday, Nov. 16 against Community Christian College.
