BUFFALO, NY - The #16 Nationally Ranked Monroe Community College Tribunes pulled off a hard-fought victory against Erie Community College, winning 80-75 in a thrilling matchup.
The game featured a balanced offensive attack from Monroe, who improved to 20-4 overall and maintained their strong record in the conference at 4-1.
Despite trailing 32-31 at halftime, Monroe rallied in the second half, outscoring Erie 49-43 to secure the win.
Leading the way for Monroe was Christopher Judge, who delivered a standout performance with 17 points, going 5-for-11 from the field, including five three-pointers. Judge also contributed with a crucial assist and played a key role in the team's second-half surge.
Another notable effort came from Jaheem Tyson, who recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds and 10 points. Tyson's dominance on the boards was instrumental in Monroe's overall rebounding efforts, where they edged Erie 39-45 on the glass.
Nile Atwater provided a spark off the bench, scoring 13 points while shooting an impressive 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. His contributions were pivotal in maintaining momentum during critical stretches of the game.
For Erie Community College, Eddie Beverly led the scoring with 18 points and showcased his sharpshooting with three three-pointers. David Stroud added a solid performance with 15 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to propel Erie (12-13, 2-3) to victory.
Monroe's victory was marked by improved shooting in the second half, as they capitalized on their opportunities, converting 49% of their shots compared to Erie's 41.1%.
