After struggling in their first 3 games this season, ASU Mid-South welcomed the Eagles of Williams Baptist JV team picking up their first win on the young season.
"It was good to see some of these guys get their confidence back. I know after getting whooped like those first couple games, it's real easy to just drop your head but these guys have stayed with it. We're still missing too many open shots, but I believe those shots will start falling as the season progresses. I just couldn't be more proud of how our guys played especially in the 2nd half." head coach Cody Hastings had to say immediately following the win.
The Greyhounds started a little slow Wednesday night, but eventually as the game went on they started to settle in and just play. Williams Baptist kept it close in the first half with the Greyhounds only taking a 39-30 lead going into the half. Once the 2nd half started, ASU Mid-South started to prove that they were the more dominant team scoring 61 points in the 2nd half, and holding the Eagles to just 27 points.
Every Greyhound scored at least 6 points tonight with freshman Jermaine Christopher and Jaxson Yancy led the Greyhounds in scoring with 17 points. Sophomore Davonta Tucker got his first double double of the season scoring 13 points and bringing down 16 rebounds.
ASU Mid-South travels to Quincy, Illinois Friday night to face Kirkwood at the John Wood Classic at 5:00. They will round out their 4 game week on Saturday against the host John Wood at 3:00.
