Wednesday evening, the Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team hosted the Kalamazoo Valley Cougars. With a win, the Chargers would secure the #2 overall seed from the Western Division for the Great Lakes District A Tournament. The Chargers responded from a tough weekend, using a tremendous defensive effort, as they limited the Cougars to just 22 points through three quarters in a 63-40 MCCAA win. The Chargers are now 23-4 on the season and 9-3 in Western Division play.

Marian Ancilla was able to create pressure in the way of 16 steals, as they forced 30 Cougar turnovers. The Chargers also limited their own turnovers and were able to work for easy baskets around the rim most of the night. All-in-all, the Chargers got a balanced effort from their entire roster.

Sophomore wing De'Mour Watson (6 rebounds, 2 assists) led Marian Ancilla with 14 points. Sophomore Maykayla Washington-Cobb (5 rebounds) and Freshman Santana Eubanks (7 steals, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) joined Watson in double figures with 11 points apiece.

The Chargers have just two regular season games remaining before they head off to postseason play. Tomorrow, Saturday, they head to Benton Harbor to take on Lake Michigan College. That game is set to tip at 1:00 p.m. Then, next week, the home game with Kellogg Community College has been moved from Wednesday to Tuesday. That tip time is set for 5:30 p.m. at the LifePlex in Plymouth. Please come out and support the Chargers, if you are able!!
