Thunderwolves knock off Corning

Host SUNY Niagara celebrated Sophomore Day by splitting a twinbill with perennial Region III power Corning Community College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Thunderwolves improved to 4-25 overall and 4-15 in regional play. Corning CC, meanwhile, dropped to 19-15, 12-5.

The T-Wolves wrap up the regular season with a doubleheader at Genesee CC. First pitch is at 3 p.m. today. 

Corning CC 15, SUNY Niagara 4 (6 inn.)

Freshman Isabella Christopher was 2-for-3 with an RBI in the loss. Sophomore Rylee VanNostrand went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and freshman Jordan Shaffer added an RBI triple. 

SUNY Niagara 18, Corning CC 10 (6 inn.)

Freshman Quinn Manth was 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, three runs scored and three stolen bases in the run-rule victory. Classmate Natalie Brandel finished with three RBIs, Christopher was 4-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored and freshman Lauren Kisloski added two hits, two runs and an RBI. Also for the Wolves, Shaffer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, sophomore Camryn Smith scored three runs and VanNostrand chipped in with two RBIs.
