
Saints Down Daytona State
Daytona State made the trip to Gainesville to open the conference series.

The Saints took an early lead in Gainesville and held on late to take an 8-6 win over Daytona State. Daytona State struck first in the second inning with a one spot, but the Saints answered with a run in the bottom half. The Saints then exploded offensively with a three-run fourth inning and a four run fifth inning to take a comfortable 8-1 lead. Then Daytona State took off offensively with a two spot in the seventh and a three spot in the ninth to make the final inning interesting.
Zack Dejesus led the way for SF going 4-4 and scoring three runs. Dejesus day was capitalized when he stole home in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game. Ryan Chase had a three-hit contest going 3-4. Chase scored one run and walked once on the day as well. Wyatt Tesar and Aiden Andreu both drove in two runs on one hit a piece.
Chase Chappell received the start for Santa Fe, going 6.1 innings allowing six hits and three runs. Chappel struck out four and did not allow a walk. Nick Staszak came in relief going 2.1 innings, before Stephen Joyce recorded the final out of the game.
The Saints travel to Daytona State on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at noon.
