Bears Basketball extends win streak to 11 with victory over Delgado

The Baton Rouge Bears concluded their home conference schedule this evening against the Delgado Dolphins in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center, securing a convincing 78 to 63 victory. With this win, the Bears extended their winning streak to eleven games, the longest in the program's history.
The game began as a tightly contested match, with both teams engaged in a back-and-forth battle. After a tie at 4 points with 17 minutes left in the first half, the Bears pulled ahead with a 15-6 run, taking a 17-10 lead midway through the first period. Courtney McCarthy and Kialen Phillips led the Bears with a combined 17 points during the first eleven minutes. The Dolphins managed to narrow the gap to 26-21 with seven minutes remaining, but the Bears then surged ahead, leading by twelve at halftime, 41 to 29.
In the second half, the Bears maintained their defensive strength and received significant contributions from Kialen Phillips, Courtney McCarthy, and Dylan Dominique, building a 21-point lead with 13 minutes remaining, at 62-41. The Dolphins attempted a comeback, but the Bears' dominance on both ends of the floor proved too strong. Ultimately, the Bears triumphed over the Dolphins, 78 to 63, extending their winning streak to 11 games and remaining undefeated in conference play.
Throughout the game, the Bears displayed impressive ball movement, finishing with a total of 23 assists. Kialen Phillips led the Bears in scoring with 36 points, while both Phillips and McCarthy finished in double figures. Lionel Larvadian led the Dolphins with 26 points, and the Dolphins had three players score in double figures.
With this victory, the Bears improved to a record of 17-8, 5-0, while the Dolphins fell to 6-19 (1-4) for the season. Baton Rouge leads the all-time series against Delgado with 33 wins and 15 losses.

Courtney McCarthy added 17 points woth 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
Laron Louis Jr. Scored 5 points.
Troy Joseph dished out 11 assists.
The team combined to dish out 23 assists in the ball game.
The Bears will travel to Shreveport this Saturday, February 22, to conclude their conference play against the Southern Shreveport Jags at Northwood High School.
