Sophomore Day

On Saturday April 19th the SUNY Orange Colts celebrated their Sophomore Day, honoring five sophomores who will venture on to their next chapter.
Sophomores, #5 Julia Sorrentino, #9 Lindsay Keane, #18 Nicole Imhoff, #23 Caroline Farrell and #24 Gianna Catletti.
Taking on the Sharks of Suffolk County Community College, it was the Colts who were able to get on the board first after Sydney Benware singled on a ground ball to left field driving in two runs to give them a 2-0 advantage. The Colts were able to extend their lead in the bottom of the second inning due to some heads up base running due to an error.
In this game the Colts secured the 8-2 victory over the Sharks. Freshman CF #10 Hannah Moulton collected three hits in four at bats, Moulton doubled in the fourth inning and collected two singles in the first and second inning. Gianna Catletti earned the win for the Colts as the right handed pitcher allowed four walks and two runs over seven innings pitched. Catletti struck out nine batters and walked three.
The Colts collected 12 hits in the game. #16 Sydney Benware led the Colts with three runs batted in, the first baseman finished 1-for-3 on the evening. Emily Ketcham, Nicole Imhoff and Gianna Catletti each collected multiple hits for the Colts. The Colts did not commit any fouls with Lindsay Keane leading the way with 10 chances.
In game two the Colts took care of business sweeping the Sharks after a 14-2 victory.
The Colts once again got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning after six consecutive singles scoring four runs. The Colts amassed a total of seven runs in the first inning alone. The Colts added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Madeline Roberts singled down the left field line, Julia Sorrentino singled down the left field line and Emily Ketcham hit a sacrifice fly each scoring a run.
In the bottom of the third inning the Colts continued their success scoring four more runs in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 14-1.
Sydney Benware earned the win for the Colts, the started gave up six hits and two runs over five innings. Benware struck out five batters and walked one.
The Colts amassed a total of 16 hits in the game. Madeline Roberts, Nicole Imhoff and Sydney Benware each collected three hits for the Colts. Benware led the way in runs batted in with three, the pitcher finished 3-4 on the day. Hannah Moulton, Lindsay Keane and Gianna Catletti each collected multiple hits.
With a 13-7 record the Colts will take on the Falcons of Dutchess County Community College on Tuesday April 22nd for an evening double header.
