Spartans End Regular Season with Win Over OCC, Losses to Corning & Jefferson

Cayuga Community College Men's Basketball closed the regular season with a 1-3 stretch that included a hard-fought home win over Onondaga Community College.

The Spartans rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to defeat the Lazers 74-71 on Feb. 15, with forward Tony Borges leading the team with 19 points and also finishing with seven rebounds. Marcus Pasha had 16 points and 6 rebounds, and Desean Strachan and Amaree Samuel each had 15 points.

Prior to the win over OCC, the Spartans lost on the road to Genesee Community College. Cayuga pushed one of the top teams in Region III for the full game, with the teams tied at 40 at halftime before Genesee emerged with the 82-76 win. Pasha led Cayuga with 22 points and nine rebounds, with Borges adding 14 points and Strachan finishing with 13 points.

Cayuga lost their final two games of the regular season, including a home loss to Corning CC and an away game to Jefferson CC.

The Spartans trailed by nine at halftime to the Red Barons but struggled in the second half, losing 93-62. Borges and Strachan led Cayuga with 16 points apiece.

In the road loss to Jefferson, Cayuga's offense struggled to get on-track in a 63-56 final. Pasha led Cayuga with 17 points, and Borges had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Strachan had 11 rebounds, and Codie Patrick had nine points and 10 rebounds.
