
The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team took down the Highland Community College Scotties, 71-68 Jan. 22 at Highland Community College in Highland, Kan. Camron Williford boosted the Blue Devils with 15 points and shooting 8-13 from the free throw line.
Jeremiah Lewis started off on the bench but ended up scoring the second highest for the Blue Devils with 11 points. Lewis drained 3-4 shots from three-point range and brought down two rebounds and had three steals. Ta'Veaion Washington shot perfect a perfect 3-3 from the field and 1-1 from behind the arc, missing only one free throw. O'shawn Jones-Winslow finished the night with eight points, two rebounds and two blocks. A quiet night for BJ Stewart as he finished with just three points, but he was able to bring down a team-high nine rebounds, four steals and one block. The Scotties led the Blue Devils at half 37-36 but it took KCKCC just two minutes and 23 seconds in the second half to take the lead and never let it go.
For the game, the Blue Devils shot 22-57 from the field (38.6%), 8-20 from three-point range (40%) and 19-32 from the free-throw line (59.4%). The Scotties shot 27-54 from the field (50%), 6-15 from three-point range (40%) and 8-13 from the free-throw line (61.5%).
The next game for the Blue Devils is against the Hesston College Larks at 3:00 p.m. Jan.25 at Hesston College in Hesston, Kan.
