Bears swept by the BPCC Cavs

The Baton Rouge Bears faced off against the Bossier Parish Cavs this afternoon on the diamond. Despite two solid pitching performances from the Bears, they struggled to generate offense, resulting in losses with final scores of 7-0 and 2-1.
Game One
The Bears had difficulty achieving consistent and timely hits and were unable to keep pace with the high-powered offense of the Cavs, ultimately dropping Game One of the doubleheader 7-0.
The Cavs broke through in the fourth inning, scoring two runs to take an early lead. They extended their advantage with three additional runs, beginning with a hit by pitch followed by two singles that brought in one run. M. Gaspard then hit a triple, plating two more runs. After five innings, the Cavs led the Bears 5-0. In the sixth inning, the Cavs added two insurance runs with a two-run homer by Y. Gallarzo to center field. The Bears struggled to adjust at the plate, failing to string together hits to get runners into scoring position, resulting in a 7-0 loss in Game One.
Briley LeBeouf started for the Bears and took the loss, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Ashton Duhon pitched in relief for the Bears. M. Gaspard pitched a complete game for the Lady Cavs, allowing no runs on 2 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.
Bossier Parish out-hit Baton Rouge 7 to 2, and the Bears committed 2 errors in the game.

Game Two
Both teams showcased strong pitching in Game Two, but the Cavs found a bit more offense, defeating the Bears 2-1.
The Bears capitalized on inconsistent Cavs pitching in the first inning, scoring one run. Averie Ashford and Kyla Ashford drew back-to-back walks, then advanced 60 feet on a wild pitch. Mary Wicke then walked to load the bases, followed by Jardyn Wheeler being hit by a pitch, which allowed Ashford to score. The Cavs managed to induce a double play to end the Bears' threat in the inning. The Cavs responded by tying the game at one in the bottom of the first inning.
In the following four innings, both teams had opportunities to score but left runners stranded due to not being able to string together timely hits. In the bottom of the sixth, M. Faunce hit a solo homer to center field, giving the Cavs a 2-1 lead. The Bears went down in order in the top of the seventh, resulting in their loss of 2-1.
Maddie Robinson started in the circle for the Bears, taking the loss after pitching 6 innings, yielding 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. I. Arguello began for the Cavs, pitching 0.2 innings and allowing 1 run on 0 hits, while walking 5. M. Harper came in relief for the Cavs and earned the victory, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing no runs on 2 hits, striking out 3.
The Cavs outhit the Bears 6 to 2, and neither team committed an error.

With the pair of losses, the Bears fell to 18-12, while the Cavs improved to 21-13 for the season. Bossier Parish leads the all-time series with 32 wins and 10 losses against Baton Rouge.
The Bears will travel to Eunice, Louisiana, this Saturday, March 29, to take on the LSUE Lady Bengals in a doubleheader starting at 2 PM.
