Raptors End Lynx Season in Quarterfinals

Raptors End Lynx Season in Quarterfinals
  • Final Score: #7 Carroll Lynx 0 – #2 Montgomery Raptors 3    (25-23, 25-18, 25-18)
  • Records: Carroll 10-9  |  Montgomery 22-4
  • Location: Rockville, MD – Montgomery College
  • The Short Story: The Carroll Lynx women's volleyball team were unable to pull off the upset of tournament host and #2 seeded Montgomery despite a valiant effort from the Lynx.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lynx stayed with the mighty Raptors early on, as the Lynx led the first set 9-8 early on. Montgomery went on a big run and led 24-17 before Carroll won six straight points before finally conceeding the set point.
  • The two teams seemed evenly matched early in the second set as well until another late Montgomery run allowed the Raptors to pull away and win 25-18.
  • Another good start for the Lynx in the third set saw them tied 15-15 with Montgomery, but the Raptors were able to pull away one more time to end the Lynx season in straight sets.

GAME NOTES

  • Karley Badorf finished her Lynx career with 12 kills and 8 digs as she will close out her career setting a very high bar for future Lynx volleyball players. Badorf was the lone Carroll player to be named to the All-Tournament team.
  • Emily McElwaine hit for 7 kills and 3 blocks in a good game for the freshman middle hitter.
  • Hannah Breen used some crafty plays to pick up four kills on the day.
  • Micaela Adami accumulated 22 assists and 9 digs in the game while Grace Bowman added 8 digs and Kat Crochunis added another 7.

UP NEXT

  • The Lynx wrap up their 2024 season with a 10-9 overall record while being forced to say goodbye to their historic sophomore class.
  • The Carroll volleyball program should be in great shape for the 2025 season with star freshmen Adami, McElwaine, Breen, and Miriam Zuazo to form a core to build next year's squad.
