Catamounts Dominate Penn State Fayette

Game 1 Recap: 

Potomac State exploded in Game 1 of their doubleheader against Penn State Fayette, finishing with a huge 25-1 victory. The Potomac State offense was relentless, combining for 23 hits, including six home runs, and capitalizing on numerous errors by the Fayette defense.

The game kicked off with a stolen home by Eva Ochoa to give Potomac State an early lead in the first inning. But it was in the second inning where the game truly unraveled for Penn State Fayette. Potomac State exploded for 12 runs, with standout performances from Lindsay Mowry, Jamie Kelly, and Ashton Spiker, who each launched home runs. Mowry drove in three runs with a double and a single, while Kelly hit two homers and collected three RBIs. Spiker was equally impressive with a home run and four RBIs.

Pitching was also dominant for Potomac State. Chloe Greise threw three perfect innings, striking out six and allowing just one baserunner. Lacie Miller finished off the game, allowing only one hit and one earned run while striking out one. 

The Potomac State defense was flawless, turning in an error-free game and shutting down the Fayette offense. Despite the lopsided score, Potomac State stayed sharp both on offense and defense, with impressive baserunning and solid pitching from start to finish.

By the end of the third inning, the game had already gotten out of hand with a score of 21-0. Penn State Fayette did manage to get on the scoreboard in the fourth, but it was far too little, too late as Potomac State sealed the 25-1 victory.

Game 2 Recap: 

Potomac State capped off their doubleheader sweep with an overwhelming 20-0 victory in Game 2 against Penn State Fayette. The Potomac State offense once again proved unstoppable, tallying 13 hits and scoring in every inning except the third, as they earned their second commanding win of the day.

The game started fast, with Potomac State grabbing a quick 5-0 lead in the first inning. Lindsay Mowry started things off with a sacrifice fly that brought home Hailey Massie, followed by a two-run homer from Jamie Kelly. Braylee Corbin then contributed a single, and Shaleigh Darlington doubled to score another run. By the end of the first inning, the score was already 5-0.

In the second inning, Potomac State continued to pour it on, adding 11 more runs. Corbin's RBI single, a home run by Skyla Compton, and Kelly's RBI single all highlighted a monstrous offensive attack. With strong baserunning and aggressive hitting, Potomac State was able to take a commanding 16-0 lead by the end of the second.

The offensive barrage didn't slow down in the third and fourth innings. Jamie Kelly homered again in the fourth, while Massie, Spiker, and Compton kept the pressure on with key hits. The game reached its final score of 20-0 after a groundout by Massie in the fourth that scored the final run.

Pitching was dominant for Potomac State as well, with Chloe Greise picking up the win after tossing three innings of no-hit ball, striking out six. Lacie Miller closed the game with two scoreless innings of her own, allowing just one hit and recording one strikeout. Penn State Fayette's offense struggled throughout, managing only one hit in the game.
