
Saints Run-Ruled Versus Polk
The Saints hosted Polk State College to open Citrus Conference play on Thursday afternoon.

Santa Fe falls in run-rule fashion to Polk State College 14-5. The Saints played sloppy on the defensive side of the ball, making eight errors. The Eagles struck quickly in the top of the first inning bringing one run in to take their first lead. The Saints and Erik Blair responded with a three-run homerun. After the three spots, Polk State ran away with the game, a four spot in the second inning, along with a solo run in the third gave the Eagles a 6-3 lead. The Eagle bats took a break in the fourth inning before a three spot in the fifth, a single run in the sixth, and a four spot in the seventh gave the Eagles the run-rule victory. The Saints scored one run in both the third and sixth innings.
Macklin Miller received the ball in the start against Polk State going 1.0 innings allowing two runs (one earned), while walking four batters. Stephen Joyce received the loss on the day giving up seven runs (one earned). Joyce struck out seven and walked just one batter. Javier Soto led the Saints at the plate with a two-hit game. Blair was 1-2 with a walk and three RBI.
Santa Fe is back in action when they travel to Polk State College on Saturday afternoon.
