Santa Fe College played host to #1 team in Division Two, St. Johns River State College on Thursday afternoon.

In game one of the days double-header Santa Fe won 6-5 in dramatic fashion. The Saints were on the board first with a two run second inning. St. Johns River got a run back on a solo homerun in the top of the third inning. Offenses took a break for the next two innings, before the drama began. Santa Fe extended their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth before SJRSC scored three runs to take the lead in the top of the seventh. A Madison Conway homerun in the bottom half tied the game up, sending the game to the eighth inning. In the top of the eight, SJRSC was able to bring one run home on a passed ball to take the lead. In the bottom of the eighth inning smart baserunning from Karris Rhine tied the game up. The Saints loaded the bases with two outs and Brooke Markiewicz at the dish. Markiewicz drew a five pitch walk to win the game in extra innings.
Ryleigh Bauer received the start in game one, going 7.0 innings allowing five hits and four runs. Bauer struck six out, while walking just two. Belle Mancillas came in to pitch in the eighth inning throwing up zeros across the board and taking the win. VanGalder led the team in hits going 3-4 with two RBI. Conway and Sydney English both had multi-hit performances in game one. Conway's solo homerun was the highlight of her day at the plate, while English scored one run.
In game two the Saints used two big innings to run rule SJRSC 11-2. St. Johns River scored the first two runs of the ball game in the top of the third innings. The Saints responded with a six run third inning and a five run fourth inning to dominate the Vikings.
Markiewicz (2), Ryleigh Bennett (2), Olivia LaMeau (2) and Rhine (3) all had multi-RBI games. No Saint had more than one hit in the game two, but as a team SF drew four walks, while not striking out. Alexi Daphney received the start for SF going 2.0 innings allowing a single hit and two runs. Mancillas was rewarded with the win going 3.0 innings allowing one hit and striking out two.
The Saints are back in action on Thursday at 1:00 PM against Florida State College at Jacksonville.
