
Men's Basketball Earns Key Regional Win on the Road
JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team secured a hard-fought 81-74 road victory over Fulton-Montgomery on Sunday, using a strong first half to build a lead they maintained throughout the game.
The Lakers took a 10-point advantage into halftime, which proved the difference as they held off a late push from the Raiders. Anthony Torres (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) led all scorers with 31 points, knocking down 6 three-pointers while adding 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 7 free throws.
Jace Brown (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) provided a strong inside presence with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Brian Whitley (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) added 10 points and 5 rebounds to help control the paint. Kellen Foster (Newark, N.Y./Newark) chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds, going a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line to help close the game.
Bruce Wilder Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Fairport) contributed 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Tim Graziano (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) delivered 6 points off the bench, hitting 2 key three-pointers.
The Lakers shot 50.0% from the field, 44.0% from three, and 83.3% from the free-throw line while also controlling the rebounding battle 32-26.
With the win, the Lakers improved to 7-12 overall and will look to carry their momentum into a conference battle with Cayuga Community College tomorrow, February 4th at 7 PM.
