Cardinals Fly to Victory over Skylanders

Catonsville- MD, - The CCBC Cardinals Baseball team finished off a successful sweep of Sussex County Community College with a 10-4 win on Saturday. Both pitching and hitting excelled in this win.  

Hitting Comes Through 

The Cardinals bats really came alive in the 5th inning, where they tallied 5 runs and really put the game out of reach. The hitting was highlighted by SS Jaedan Kelly and CF Lyonel Barthelemy. Jaedan Kelly went 3-3 with a BB, scored 3 runs, and drove in 1 RBI. Lyonel Barthelemy went 2-4 with 2 RBIs along with 3 stolen bases.  

Pitching Shines 

Starting Pitcher A.J. Palumbo picked up his first win of the season with 5.0 innings of 2 run baseball while tallying 7 strikeouts on the way. Followed by Bryson Prietz and J.P. Tennant with 1 inning of relief from both. Bryson Prietz performed well and finished with 1 strikeout and no hits. The Cardinals only allowed 4 runs in 7 innings.  

Player of the Game 

The Player of the Game goes to A.J. Palumbo. Not only did he pick up his first win while pitching 5.0 innings and only giving up 2 runs. He also went 2-4 with a 2B at the plate with 3 RBIs and a stolen base. Providing great value for the Cardinals on both sides of the field is what made him shine the brightest in a great team win for the Cardinals
