A strong fourth quarter propels the Lady Bears to the victory!

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears traveled to Wesson, Mississippi, this afternoon to face the Copiah Lincoln Lady Wolves. These two teams had previously met on December 16, 2024, in Baton Rouge, where the Lady Wolves defeated the Lady Bears 77-68. This time, the game came down to the fourth quarter, and the Lady Bears locked down defensively while finding their offensive rhythm, outscoring the Lady Wolves 22-9 in the final quarter to secure a 76-63 victory.
The Lady Wolves started strong, embarking on a 10-4 run. The Lady Bears responded with a 6-4 run of their own, bringing the score to 14-10 with 3:55 remaining in the first quarter. By the end of the quarter, the Lady Wolves held a slim 16-15 lead.
The Lady Bears continued to battle, going on a 6-5 run that allowed them to tie the game at 21 with 6:06 left in the second quarter. They then found their stride, outscoring the Lady Wolves 16-10 to take a 37-31 lead at halftime.
Unfortunately, the Lady Bears' struggles in the third quarter continued. They started off sluggishly, allowing the Lady Wolves to score the first seven points of the half and take a 38-37 lead. The quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with the game tied at 54 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter, the Lady Bears increased their defensive pressure, keeping the Lady Wolves off balance offensively. They outscored the Lady Wolves 22-9, sealing the victory at 76-63.
Kinsley James led the Lady Bears in scoring for the second straight game with 15 points. The Lady Bears had four players score in double figures. Angel Wilkinson led the Lady Wolves with a game-high 30 points, while the Lady Wolves had two players in double figures.
With this victory, the Lady Bears improved their record to 6-5, while the Lady Wolves fell to 10-5 on the season. Copiah Lincoln still holds the all-time series advantage over Baton Rouge, with 17 wins to 4 losses.

Kinsley James led the Lady Bears with 15 points.
Shelcie LeBlanc contributed 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Chanci Moland and DeZarae Stewart each scored 10 points.
The Lady Bears will return home on Tuesday, January 14, to host the Centenary College of Louisiana JV team at 5:30 p.m. in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
