WILLIAMS, HARCOURT NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM AS MIDDLESEX WINS TWO AT JJ TIPOFF CLASSIC

The Middlesex College Men's Basketball team is coming off a 2023-24 Garden State Athletic Conference title and got their 2024-25 season off to a great start by winning both games at this weekend's JJ Memorial Tip Off Classic at SUNY Westchester.

The Colts (2-0) topped Roxbury CC 86-57 on opening night and then beat Westchester CC 94-67 the next day.

Tristin Harcourt (Sophomore/Newark, NJ) and Sean Williams (Sophomore/Old Bridge, NJ) were named to the All-Tournament Team after stellar performances.

Against Roxbury, Middlesex relied on a deep bench to pull away from the Tigers in the second half after taking a 37-34 lead into the break. The Colts outscored Roxbury 49-23 in the second half with their bench outscoring Roxbury's reserves 26-7.

Middlesex had four players reach double digits with Williams leading the way with 18 points. Alfeny Javier Concepcion (Sophomore/Perth Amboy, NJ) was second on the team with 16 points while Michael Byfield (Englewood, NJ) and Lorenzo Perez (Sophomore/Perth Amboy, NJ) each scored 13.

Harcourt paced Middlesex with 10 rebounds while Perez led the squad with six assists.

Against Westchester, Middlesex jumped out to an early lead and never looked back from there. The Colts jumped out to a 17-3 lead after six minutes and led by double digits the rest of the way.

Head Coach Winston Smith used all 15 players on the roster and Williams once again led all scorers with 25 points on 11-20 shooting. Harcourt again had a huge impact, registering a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds. He also led the team with eight assists.

Anthony Hicks (Freshman/Plainfield, NJ) had 18 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for Middlesex.

Middlesex is back in action with their first home game of the season when they take on Monroe. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00PM.
