
Chargers top Illinois College JV to win Porter’s Sandburg coaching debut
JACKSONVILLE — The Sandburg baseball team gave Brandon Porter a win in his Chargers coaching debut with a 12-8 victory Monday over Illinois College JV in the team's season opener.

KEY MOMENT
Jace Wilkerson and Josh Morales connected for back-to-back solo homers with one out in the second inning to kick off a five-run frame for the Chargers. Yasiel Trinidad added a two-run double in the inning, and Joel Medina's sacrifice fly gave Sandburg a 6-1 lead it wouldn't relinquish.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Wilkerson reached base safely four times, going 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs. In addition to his second-inning home run, the sophomore from East Peoria had an RBI double in the third, walked in the fourth and singled in the ninth.
