
Thunderducks Wrap up DAC Regular Season Title
DALLAS – Dallas College Richland men's basketball team wrapped up the Dallas Athletic Conference regular season championship in a 68-67 win over Dallas College Mountain View Saturday.
It is the Thunderducks' first league title since the 2020-21 COVID-shortened season.
Richland (19-8, 11-2 DAC) will host the National Junior College Athletic Conference Division III South Central District semifinals and championship games Feb. 27-March 1. The Thunderducks entered the week ranked No. 11 in the national poll.
Richland closes the regular season with a home game against Dallas College Eastfield 6 p.m. Wednesday and at Dallas College North Lake 1 p.m. Saturday.
Mountain View (11-17, 4-9) kept it nip and tuck with the Thunderducks throughout, shooting 40 percent from the field and 3-point line to chase Richland down to the final seconds. Augustine Chibuko had 15 points and 10 rebounds, while blocking three shots for the Lions. Noel Duplechain had 15 points, sinking 9 of 11 free throws. Ashton Price added 15 points for the Lions, who went 17 of 26 from the free throw line.
Richland will receive a quarterfinal bye in the district tournament before hosting the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Feb. 27.
