Jayhawks Claw Their Way to Victory Over Sullivan

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's basketball team made it back-to-back wins by taking down SUNY Sullivan 84-76 in their opener of the Post Journal Classic.

It didn't look great early for JCC, falling behind Sullivan by ten at 21-11 midway through the first half, but the Jayhawks found some shooting after that.

Federico Foddai buried a corner three, followed up by a Robert Russel triple and then a MarucS Wynter bucket, and the deficit was trimmed to a pair.

Jamestown was able to tie things up at the 3:20 mark at 31-31.

The Jayhawks claimed their first lead just before the break when Tamir Barrant finished a fastbreak layup to make it 36-35 for the home team.

It was more of the same battle in the second half, with the game tied at 55-55 with ten minutes remaining.

Travis Castro's floater and another from Foddai saw the Jayhawks start to build a cushion.

A transition layup from Wynter's would push the edge to nine with eight minutes to play.

The game was put on ice at the line, where Ilyass Kaichi stroked three late to keep Sullivan at bay.

The win is two straight for JCC, who is right back on the home court Sunday when they host Butler County Community College at 3:00 PM.
