On Wednesday April 23rd the SUNY Orange Colts hosted Monroe College for an afternoon double header. Unfortunately the Colts were unable to secure the victory in either game as their 10 game win streak came to an end.
In this game the score was tied 3-3 until Monroe College turned the game upside down and scored seven runs in the top of the sixth inning and was enough to lead them to victory. SUNY Orange jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Syndey Benware hammered an opposite field home run to give the Colts a 1-0 lead. Rounding all four bases, collecting her first collegiate home run. The Colts then added to their 1-0 lead after Caroline Farrell singled on a ground ball to left field driving in Nicole Imhoff from second base.
Monroe was soon able to tie the game at 2-2 until Lindsay Keane smashes a line drive deep to center field for an RBI double to give the Colts a 3-2 advantage early in the game. This was Lindsay's fifth double and eighteenth RBI on the year.
Starting Pitcher #24 Gianna Catletti took the loss for the Colts, the right-handed pitcher went for seven innings. Catletti gave up 13 runs on 15 hits, striking out five batters and walking one. Caroline Farrell and Nicole Imhoff each collected two hits for the Colts, Farrell, Keane and Benware each drove in one run for the Colts.
In game two the Colts came up short finishing with an 0-2 record for the day.
In what was a low scoring affair, it was the Colts who opened up the scoring books. After four and a half scoreless innings the Colts hit back-to-back doubles, starting with Nicole Imhoff who roped a line drive into right field and immediately followed by Madeline Roberts finishing things off with a line drive to center field and give the Colts a 1-0 lead.
Monroe College earned their first lead of the game in the top of the fifth inning and was able to maintain their lead for the remainder of the game, defeating the Colts by a score of 5-1. With this loss the Colts have a record of 15-9 on the season.
Pitcher Sydney Benware suffered the loss for game two, after throwing for seven innings Benware allowed five runs on seven hits, striking out seven and walking four batters. Madeline Roberts went 2-for-3 with a double and led the way for the Colts with a run batted in. Hannah Moulton led the Colts with three hits in four at bats.
The Colts will host the College of County College Titans on Tuesday April 29th for what will be the last regular season game the SUNY Orange Colts will play as they travel to West Virginia to take on the Potomac State Catamounts
