Lady Cannoneers Open Season with Showdown Against 2 Top Ranked Teams

The NJCAA 7th Ranked Lady Cannoneers traveled to Onondaga Community College to play in the annual Lazer Classic.  Jefferson took on 10th ranked Owens Community College from Ohio and lead 18-16 after the first quarter before Owens exploded for a 32-point second quarter hitting 6 three-point shots.  The Cannoneers could not recover from the 21-point half time deficit.  The Cannoneers showed a little fight and outscored the Express 19-12 before the final score of 77-58.  LaKaiya Butcher led the Cannoneers with 25 points and 10 rebounds.  Delaney Wiley scored 14 points and Abby Raven score 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. 

On Sunday, Jefferson took on #9 ranked CC of Rhode Island and fell behind 32 -18 after the first quarter.  Jefferson put on a furious press to get back into the game.  But the Knights continued to increase the lead. The Cannoneers fell 77-43 and 0-2 on the season.  Delaney Wiley led the Cannoneers with 14 points while LaKaiya Butcher scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  The Cannoneers open up Region 3 play on Wednesday, November 13th to play MSAC member Genesee Community College.  Tip-Off is at 5:00 pm
