Cape Fear vs Denmark Tech

Cape Fear wins 70-48

Highlights: The Cape Fear Community College Men's Basketball team secured a commanding 70-48 victory over Denmark Tech, controlling the tempo from the opening tip. The Sea Devils set the pace early, forcing the Panthers into uncomfortable situations and capitalizing on fast-break opportunities. Despite their strong start, Cape Fear momentarily allowed Denmark Tech to close the gap in the first half due to unforced errors and missed shots - 25-22 at the half. However, the Sea Devils refocused in the second half, tightening up their game and pulling away for good.

AuMauri Tillman scored 12 points and 11 defensive rebounds. Jefferson McLamb took some time to get hot from afar but landed with 3 three-pointers almost back-to-back and 19 points. Cooper Hawk totaled 7 rebounds while Avion Pinner earned 11 rebounds on the defensive end alone.

A key factor in Cape Fear's success was their depth. Several players contributed off the bench, bringing energy, defensive pressure, and a versatile skill set that kept Denmark Tech on their heels. The Sea Devils' relentless effort wore down the Panthers, making a comeback impossible. JJ Moore scored 16 points with three-pointers. Jack McErlean fought hard for jump balls and defensive marks.

While CFCC acknowledges room for improvement—particularly in minimizing turnovers and maintaining consistency throughout the game—they are pleased with the conference win. The Sea Devils remain focused on refining their game as they prepare for their next conference opponent.

"We were able to open up the second half strong with a 20-point lead very quickly," says Head Coach Mark Lane. "Our focus moving into our next game is minimizing turnovers and taking care of the ball."
