Warriors Avenge Loss To John A Logan

After suffering a loss back on December 14th in Carterville, IL at John A Logan, the Warriors finally had the chance for retribution after a long 52 days.

The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a putback from Tamorrian Grigsby, but then fell behind 7-2 after a quick run by the Volunteers. Wabash cut the lead back to one with a three pointer from Dent and a free throw from Byrd. Logan answered witha layup of their own to extend their lead back to three, making it 9-6. The Warriors used missed free throws and a couple of poor possessions by the Volunteers to mount a 6-0 run, to take a 14-9 lead. The rest of the first half would be a back and forth affair, and the Warriors were able to secure the lead going into half, 35-34.

Just like the first half, the second half was a back and forth affair. Both teams used runs in the half to either extend their lead, or cut into the others lead. Wabash Valley finally settled in and established a 16 point lead, but John A Logan used a 10-0 run to cut the lead to six, 77-71. But yet again, the Warriors were able to extend the lead back to nine, 81-72. As time started to fade, the Volunteers mounted another 7-0 run, to make it a two point game, 81-79. Treveon Ford made it a three point game for the Warriors, 82-79, with 1:27 left in the game. Logan answered with a free throw of their own, to make it 82-80. John A Logan's Marcus Eaves took advatange of a bad pass from the Warriors and tied the game at 82 with 22 seconds left in regulation. The Volunteers had a chance to win it at the buzzer, but couldn't convert. Regulation ended in a tie, 82-82.

In overtime, Wabash Valley scored first and never looked back. The Warriors would end up holding on in overtime to defeat the Volunteers by a final of 92-88.

Leading the way for the Warriors tonight was Daniel Robinson with 23 points off the bench. He was one of four Warriors that finished with double digits. Joining Robinson was Clay Butler with 16, Sherod Dent Jr. with 15, and Khore Furlow with 10 points. Also scoring for Wabash was Kevin Anthony with seven points, Malachi Johnson and Treveon Ford both added six points, Muja Burton tallied four, Gabe Byrd finished with three points and Grigsby finished with two. The Warriors shot 22 of 29 from the free throw line, which was good for 79 percent.
