Warner, OK- With five players in double figures, the Connors State Cowboys made quick work of the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys JV in a 102-71 blowout victory Monday night at Melvin Self Fieldhouse. The win pushes the Cowboy's record to 10-1 on the season as they recorded their sixth straight victory.
"I think we're getting better with each game," said head coach Bill Muse. "The first half I thought we played extremely well but we've got to learn to play all 40 minutes. We'll play a good 20 minutes and if get a lead we tend to relax, and we've done that several times so far."
The Cowboys jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game and never looked back. They were led by freshman Kevin Stubblefield with 20 points on the night, followed by Aric Walls with 17, Ethan Dietz with 16, DJ Dormu with 14 and Edwin Daniel cashed in 11 points for the Cowboys.
With a whole new roster this season, team leadership was a concern for the Hall of Game coach going into the season and it seems the verdict is still out in that regard.
Leading scorer on the night was Tech's Ethan Edwards who had 26 points including four treys.
The Cowboys are home again at 7 p.m. next Tuesday night as Central Baptist comes to Self Fieldhouse.
