Strong third quarter, propels the Lady Bears to the conference victory over the Lady Jags

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears faced off against the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags this afternoon at Northwood High School in Shreveport. The Lady Bears secured a dominant second half, defeating the Lady Jags 68-56.
In the first quarter, the game was tightly contested, with neither team managing to pull ahead significantly. The Lady Bears held a slim five-point lead at the end of the quarter, leading 23-18.
During the second quarter, the Lady Bears struggled offensively. The Lady Jags capitalized on this, outscoring the Lady Bears 12-5, which allowed them to take a 30-28 lead into halftime.
At the half, Head Coach Paula Lee challenged her team to increase their intensity and effort on both ends of the court. The Lady Bears responded in the third quarter with a full-court press that disrupted the Lady Jags' offensive strategies. As a result, the Lady Bears outscored the Lady Jags 23-7 in that quarter, taking a commanding 51-37 lead into the final period.
The Lady Bears maintained their pressure and aggressive defense in the fourth quarter. Although the Lady Jags managed to outscore the Bears 19-17 during this period, Baton Rouge came away with a 68-56 victory.
With this win, the Lady Bears improved to 14-7 (6-2), while the Lady Jags fell to 5-15 (2-6). Baton Rouge now leads the all-time series against Southern Shreveport with 46 wins to 6 losses.
The Lady Bears will conclude their regular season this Wednesday, February 26, at 5:30 PM in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. Before the game, we will recognize our six sophomores for their hard work and dedication to the Lady Bear program over the past two years. The sophomores are Frandreka Keller, Zoriahn Davis, J'nyria Kelly, Carlasia Moore, Akiyah Carnes, and DeZarae Stewart.
