No. 11 Trojans fall to Ellsworth, 76-72
IOWA FALLS - The No. 11 NIACC women's basketball team dropped a 76-72 decision to Ellsworth Saturday in the ICCAC opener for both teams.
Ellsworth (7-1 overall, 1-0 in the ICCAC) led 33-32 at the half and outscored the Trojans 43-40 in the second half. The Panthers outscored the Trojans 30-22 in the fourth quarter.
Ellsworth was led by Ella Sharar with a game-high 24 points. Sharar also led the Panthers with 12 rebounds, dished out six assists and collected three steals.
The Panthers' Taylor Ross scored 20 points off the bench.
NIACC (7-2, 0-1) was led by sophomore Tori Miller with 20 points. Miller also had six rebounds and six assists.
Also for the Trojans, sophomores Alexis Schroeder and Keeley Steele both scored 15 points. Freshman Reggi Spotts scored 13 points.
Spotts led the Trojans with eight rebounds and collected three steals. Potthoff had four rebounds with three assists and one steal,
Schroeder had six assists, four rebounds and one steal.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at home against Iowa Lakes in an ICCAC contest. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5:30 p.m.
