Sharks Struggle Against Pensacola State, Fall 73-53
The Miami Dade Sharks were unable to overcome a slow start and fell 73-53 to Pensacola State College in a tough road contest. Despite flashes of promise, the Sharks struggled with shooting consistency and rebounding, allowing the Pirates to control the game.
Hassan Belkhaddar led the Sharks' offensive efforts with a team-high 16 points, including three 3-pointers, while shooting an efficient 6-of-11 from the field. Off the bench, Ernesto Rodriguez provided a boost with 13 points, going 4-of-6 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. Faheim Saintleger Meran added 10 points and four rebounds, but the Sharks as a team shot just 37% from the field and 26.1% from beyond the arc.
Rebounding proved to be a significant hurdle for Miami Dade, as Pensacola State held a 34-23 advantage on the boards. The Pirates also capitalized on their opportunities, shooting 51.9% from the field and an impressive 92.3% from the free-throw line.
The Pirates were led by Dimitri Clerc, who dominated inside with 19 points and six rebounds, hitting 7-of-8 free throws. Isaiah Sutherland added 16 points, including two 3-pointers, while Will Vasser chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.
The Sharks will take the next couple of days off before taking on Florida Coastal Prep.
