
ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 16-8 win over visiting Tompkins Cortland Community College Saturday morning at Siegert Field.
The Riverhawks opened the second quarter on a five-goal run, and later used a seven-goal run spanning the third and fourth quarters to put the game out of reach.
Tyson Miller scored five goals and added four assists. Sahil Lengade had four goals and two assists. Aaron Herdt added a pair of goals to go with four assists. Jamari Evans had a goal and an assists. Jake Howard and Ryan Cantner recorded their first career goals in the game.
While the offense was clicking, the Riverhawks' defense had one of the best games of the season. AACC recorded 32 caused turnovers – by 14 different players - and limited the Panthers clear game to 55% (21-38). Howard led the way with five caused turnovers, while Evans, Jameson Macdonald and TJ Swann each had four.
AACC outshot Tompkins Cortland 68-19, seeing Panthers keeper Declan Vail make 27 saves. Parrish Fleming earned the win with three stops in the first three quarters for AACC, and Rocco Gargano made one save in the fourth.
Prior to the game, AACC recognized the six sophomores who were playing in their final home game: Swann, Fleming, Gargano, Gage Carter, Justin Sampson, and Alex Del Moral.
The Riverhawks are now idle until the NJCAA Region 20 semifinals on Friday, April 25th at Howard Community College.
