HICKORY, N.C. — Wake Tech Men's Basketball's season came to an end on Friday evening after a 91-79 loss to Cape Fear in the semifinals of the Region 10 DI Tournament.
"It was a disappointing result tonight, but overall I'm incredibly proud of our season," head coach Adam Wainwright said. "Our guys grew a lot this year. The sophomores were great leaders, and now it's time for this group of freshmen to make that jump next year."
Wake Tech led 45-39 at the half but couldn't contain the Sea Devils' long-range shooting. Cape Fear finished the game with 16 made three-pointers, and their 51-point second half performance was too much for the Eagles.
Mervin Hope was the team's leading scorer with 15 points; AJ Shaw and Joshua Stevenson also added 14 points each.
The Eagles finish the season with a 19-13 record. They entered the Region 10 DI Tournament as the no. 3-seed for the second straight year, and advanced to the semifinals for the first time after transitioning to DI before the 2023-24 season.
