NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team was at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk Friday for their home opener with a doubleheader against NJCAA DI Iowa Western Community College. The Hawks fell in Game 1 by a final score of 8-0 and dropped Game 2, 11-1.

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team was at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk Friday for their home opener with a doubleheader against NJCAA DI Iowa Western Community College. The Hawks fell in Game 1 by a final score of 8-0 and dropped Game 2, 11-1.
Northeast (3-7) faced strong pitching throughout the afternoon as they were held to just four hits from the Reivers squad who appeared at the 2024 NJCAA DI Softball World Series last season. Delaney Kruse (Wayne, Neb.) had two hits in the two matchups combined while fellow freshman Jadyn Lauritsen (Dannebrog, Neb.) and Amy Lauby (Fairmont, Neb.) both allowed zero earned runs in two innings of work in the circle.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Softball Coach Erin Sharpe on how the day played out:
"I think we still have a lot to figure out," Sharpe said. "Our bats were cold and we weren't making adjustments when needed. I think the talent is there. We just need to work on our mental game to get us prepared for the day before the day comes."
Sharpe on battling North Platte on Sunday:
"I'm excited to be back here on Sunday against North Platte and having a day off tomorrow," Sharpe said. "I think the girls can really clear their heads and come out with a fresh start."

The Hawks will stay home and will take on North Platte Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk.
