The Erie men's basketball team goes into the holiday break after going 1-1 over the weekend. On Saturday, Erie hosted Bryant and Stratton (OH), defeating the Bobcats 89-72. Sunday was a different story as the Kats fell to Westchester Community College 88-83.
In a game where they never trailed, the Kats had four players in double digits against Bryant and Stratton with David Stroud leading the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Taesyn Slating netted 13 points while Gordon Malone followed up with 12 and JohnPaul Agu added 10.
Sunday's game against the Vikings saw 11 lead changes but the Kats could not sustain any momentum at the end. Westcher took the lead with just over seven minutes to play and Erie could not get closer than within two.
Slating was seven of 13 from beyond the arc, scoring 23 points and adding seven rebounds. Emil Hernandez had 19 points and Agu rounded out the top three with point getters with 12.
Erie stands at 8-6 overall and will next take the court after the break when they travel to Mohawk Valley Community College on January 10th.
