The Dundalk Men's Basketball team rebounded in a big way with their win on Monday, defeating Baltimore City Community College 81-69, snapping back to their winning ways. The victory was a big boost for the Lions, improving their record to 15-11 overall and 10-5 in conference play as they head into the final stretch of the season.
In the first half, both teams came out strong, playing with high energy and a sense of urgency. The game was a back-and-forth affair, with each squad showing flashes of brilliance on both ends of the court. For the Dundalk Lions, #5 Xavier Barrow was a standout, putting on an incredible offensive display. Barrow's 35 points and 5 rebounds for the game were a testament to his skill and determination. As the half progressed, both teams fought hard to gain an advantage, but neither could break free. Each side had moments of dominance, but turnovers and defensive stops kept the game in a deadlock. By the time the buzzer sounded for halftime, the score was tied at 32, leaving the game wide open for an intense and competitive second half.
The second half saw a shift in momentum as turnovers started to plague the Panthers, who finished the game with a total of 23 turnovers. Dundalk capitalized on this, forcing the Panthers into mistakes that the Lions turned into easy points. As the game progressed, #11 Christopher Scott emerged as a key contributor, scoring 16 points and tallying 7 assists. His clutch play in the final stages of the game gave Dundalk the edge they needed to pull ahead and secure the win. Meanwhile, #2 Damien Hopkins also had a solid outing, finishing with 12 points and 6 assists, showcasing his ability to create plays and contribute across the board.
While the Panthers fought hard, the combination of Dundalk's solid defense and offensive execution proved too much for them to handle. The Lions' resilience and ability to capitalize on turnovers made the difference, allowing them to come out on top after a tightly contested game.
Now, with this win behind them, the Lions set their sights on their final regular-season game against Anna Arundel County Community College. The road conference matchup, scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, will be crucial for both teams as they look to end the season on a high note. With the regular season winding down, the Lions will be determined to carry their momentum into this final game and make a strong push for the postseason.
