#18 Highlanders and #2 Coyotes split doubleheader
The #18 McLennan Highlanders and #2 Weatherford Coyotes split this evening's conference doubleheader in Weatherford.
Weatherford took the opener 6-3 with Jonah Conradt taking the loss on the mound for the Highlanders.
McLennan scored one in the first as Spencer Butt singled and scored on a double by Daniel Harden.
The Coyotes took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning. JC Davis singled and advanced on a sacrifice fly by Trey Butler. Trace Mazon singled to score Davis. Manuel Salas and Jake Overstreet both walked to load the bases. Mazon then scored on a wild pitch.
Weatherford added four runs in the second. Blake Martinez walked and Davis reached on an error, both advancing on a wild pitch. Martinez scored on a fielder's choice by Butler, and Mazon singled to score Davis. Mazon stole second, and Butler scored on an error. A sacrifice fly by Overstreet brought Mazon in to score.
The Highlanders added a run in the third. Ty Waid singled and Cage McCloud walked, both advancing on a wild pitch. Sherman Johnson then singled to score Waid.
Deiten Lachance's solo home run in the fourth rounded out the scoring.
In the nightcap, McLennan came from behind to take the 4-3 victory. Kadyn Leon picked up the win on the mound and Cade Waibel got the same.
McLennan scored two in the third as Butt was hit by the pitch and scored on Harden's home run.
Weatherford tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the third. Cayden Byrd led off with a walk and scored on a double by Davis. Davis advanced on a ground out by Butler and scored on a double by Mazon.
The Coyotes took the lead with Mazon's solo home run in the fifth.
The Highlanders scored two in the eighth to go back on top. Waid was hit by the pitch and advanced on a sac bunt by McCloud. Johnson was also hit by the pitch, and Marcus Smith singled to score Waid and Johnson.
