
WEST MEMPHIS, ARK - Itawamba Community College secured a commanding 68-27 victory against Arkansas State Mid-South, dominating the game from start to finish.
In the opening quarter, Itawamba jumped out to an early lead with a strong offensive showing, taking an 18-14 advantage. Mid-South struggled to find their rhythm, shooting only 22.7% from the field, and this gap continued to widen. The second quarter saw Itawamba increase their lead further, outscoring the opposing team 10-6 and heading into halftime with a 28-20 advantage.
The third quarter was where Itawamba truly asserted their dominance. A 21-point effort helped extend their lead. Mid-South only managed two points in the period, cementing their struggles throughout the game. In the final quarter, Itawamba's defense remained strong as the team still added another 19 points to seal the win.
Leading the charge for Itawamba was I'Xana Winters, who came off the bench and scored 14 points on an impressive 6-for-9 shooting performance. Briyana Turner also played a crucial role, contributing 12 points and leading the team with 3 rebounds.
The team as a whole shot 43.8% from the field. Defensively, Itawamba held Mid-South to just 10 field goals and forced 25 turnovers.
