Highlanders fall to Cowley

The #2 McLennan Highlanders fell to the #20 Cowley Tigers 10-6 in today's series finale. Trevor Ainsworth took the loss on the mound for the Highlanders.
 
Cowley took an early lead with three runs in the first inning. Kade Sheldon singled and Weston Thomas walked. Dax McCaskill followed with a three-run homer.
 
McLennan got on the board with a run in the bottom of the second. Jackson Irons led off with a doubled and Walker Freeman reached on an error. Irons then scored on a sacrifice fly by Sherman Johnson.
 
The Tigers added a run with McCaskill's solo home run in the third.
 
The Highlanders also scored a run in the third. Owen Egan singled and Cage McCloud walked. Egan was caught stealing and McCloud scored on a double by Ty Waid.
 
McLennan took the lead with four runs in the fourth. Johnson walked and advanced on a wild pitch. McClane Helton singled and McCloud was hit by the pitch, loading the bases. Johnson scored on a balk, and Daniel Harden singled to score Helton. Deiten Lachance then singled to score McCloud. Irons and Freeman were both hit by the pitch, bringing Harden in to score.
 
Cowley added a run in the sixth. Cade Baldridge doubled and scored on a single by Kade Sheldon.
 
The Tigers took the lead with five runs in the eighth. Dawson Williams and Baldridge both singled. Sheldon walked, loading the bases. Williams scored on a passed ball, and Seth Dandridge was given the intentional walk. McCaskill then tripled to score Baldridge, Sheldon and Dandridge. McCaskill then scored on a ground out by Logan Smith.
 
McLennan will host Galveston for a three-game series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
