Offensive Outburst Pushes Ocelots to 4-0 in MCCAA Play

LIVONIA, MI – The Ocelots looked to move to 4-0 in conference play as they were hosting a 1-2 MCCAA opponent in the Owls from Oakland Community College.

For most of the 1st quarter, the Owls would hang around, trailing by just 3 points at the midway mark of the quarter. However, over the last 5 minutes of the 1st quarter, Schoolcraft would outscore the Owls 12-6 to take a 25-16 lead after the first 10 minutes of play. The 2nd quarter would see the Ocelots pull away even more, by outscoring Oakland 29-14 in the 2nd frame, Schoolcraft would take a 54-30 lead to the locker room.

The 3rd quarter would be Schoolcraft's highest scoring quarter. By hooting 57.1% from the field and registering 6 steals, the Ocelots would put up 35 points, 16 more than Oaklands. The game would be all but over at this point, but the Ocelots would find a way to score 29 more pints in the 4th quarter and hold the Owls to their lowest scoring quarter, 12 points.

For the game, Garyana Overton and Siena McNitt would each surpass the 20-point mark as Overton would log 22 points and McNitt would score 20 exactly. Raegan Byrd (18), Sharon Smith (14) and Ravyn Guy (14) would all exceed double digits. The 118-point outburst would be the most points scored by the Ocelots this season and their most points scored in the Shay Lewis era.

Schoolcraft looks to move to 5-0 in MCCAA play on Saturday as they take a short bus ride to Henry Ford to square off against the 2-15 Hawks. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00PM.
