MCC Wins 3rd in Row
Jayhawks get huge road win 96-92 over Delta.
January 16, 2025
The Jayhawks continue to gain momentum after their vital 96-92 road win against Delta College. The win extends the Jayhawks winning streak to three and improves their conference record to 2-0. Despite the Jayhawks first half scoring issues of the past, they were able to knockdown shots from all three levels of the court, exploding for 46 points after 20 minutes of play. Unfortunately, Delta College found a lot of success offensively as well – especially from behind the arc. A great shooting half from Delta mixed poorly with early foul trouble for Muskegon, and Delta led 49-46 heading into the second half.
But Delta had no answer for Muskegon in the second half, and Muskegon would go on to put up 50 points, besting their first half performance. The Jayhawks were led by sophomore guard Kevon Washington who finished with an impressive 31-point performance, knocking down six three-pointers. Freshman forward Ny'Zhem Marshall flirted with foul trouble but still managed to dominate offensively and on the glass, finishing with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Will Chye added 15 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Lamarkis Graham came up big for the Jayhawks off the bench - he added 14 points and seven rebounds. The Jayhawks hope to stay undefeated and on top of the conference rankings as they next take on Bay College at Bay on Saturday, January 18th. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 PM.
