(February 24, 2025) Mena, Arkansas - After dropping a pair of one run games at Panola last Monday, the Bucks had several schedules changes and finally made it work to play Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. It happened to land at Union Bank Field Monday afternoon. The day was scheduled to have a pair of 7-inning games.
Early on, it was a pitcher's dual. Ethan Diaz (Lake Minneola, FL) was on the mound for the Bucks and settled in early, including striking out the side to start the game. With Diaz cruising, the Bucks offense was looking for a big inning and got it in the bottom of the fourth inning.
With the bases loaded and no outs, Dylan Gibson (Springdale, AR) came through with a 2-RBI double to bust open the inning. Next at-bat, Kevin Morris (Osceola, AR) hit a sac fly to centerfield. After another out, Cody Hayes (Mildred, TX) hit a RBI single up the middle followed by a Diego Archila (Baton Rouge, LA) RBI single to center that made the game 5-0.
After Diaz's day was done, Brooks Walker (Little Rock, AR) came on in relief and worked a scoreless sixth inning, but he ran into trouble in the top of the seventh and surrendered 5 runs to tie the game. Corbin Miller (Spiro, OK) came on in relief during the inning.
Searching for a run, the Bucks had an opportunity in the eighth inning, but were unsuccessful. Miller pitched a scoreless nineth, and the Bucks seemed to have some momentum.
After a pair of walks and an intentional walk loaded the bases, Dylan Gibson came up and delivered on a sac fly to centerfield on the second pitch of the at-bat to score Ethan Miller (Hallsville, TX). The Bucks would walk it off in 9 innings to get the 6-5 win.
Corbin Miller (2-1) picked up his second inning of relief, throwing 2.2 innings. He would give up 3 hits, but put zeros up on the scoreboard. Ethan Diaz struck out 8 hitters in his 5.0 innings in the no decision.
Due to the time the game finished, the Bucks and Norsemen decided to cancel the second game due to no lights at Union Bank Field.
The men play again tomorrow at home against Bossier Parish Community College. First pitch at 1 pm.
