Jayhawks Drop a Pair to Open Series at Lakeland CC

KIRKLAND, NY - It was a tough day at the office for the Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball team, as they dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Lakeland Community College on Friday evening.

In game one, Jamestown grabbed a 2-1 lead in the third before Lakeland quickly answered with five in the bottom half of the inning. JCC drew within a run of the Lakers in the fifth after knocking in four more runs, but things fell apart in the sixth, letting up seven runs to fall 15-7. Four Jayhawks had at least one RBI in the game; Santino Musone led the way with three, Gabe Roth added a pair, and Yadiel Garcia and Luke Larson each had one. Musone had the big bat in the game, with a home run, but it wasn't enough in the eight-run loss.

Game two was another heartbreaker for the Green and Gold, losing 6-5. JCC entered the sixth inning trailing 5-2 but evened things up by scoring three runs in the top of the inning. The tie didn't last long, as the Lakers scored in the bottom half to grab the deciding run. Roth was once again strong at the plate, driving in two runs; Cadyn Wilson also had 2 RBI.

The pair of losses knocks JCC back to 3-5 on the season. They are right back on the diamond at Lakeland on Saturday for another doubleheader.
