WARREN, Mich. - The Mott Community College softball team opened the MCCAA Eastern Conference season with a sweep over Macomb Community College on Friday in Warren, Mich.
Trailing by two heading to the sixth, Mott used RBIs from Maddy Shoultes and Khloe Williams to tie the score in game one. The contest remained tied until a two-run single from Arika Hines in the ninth game gave the Bears a 4-2 win.
Mott scored six in the sixth in and four in the seventh in the finale to earn the sweep with a 12-1 win. The victories moved Mott to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the MCCAA.
Game One Highlights:

Cassie Sylvester finished with three hits.

Hines had the big hit in the ninth to drive in two runs for the win.

Schoultes and Williams each finished with an RBI.

Maggie Boehm got the start and pitched four innings, allowing two runs on six hits, while striking out four.

Hines (4-1) earned the win in relief. She pitched the final five, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out six.
Game Two Highlights:

Keira McGarvie had three hits, one RBI, and a run scored.

Heaven Helkowski had a pair of hits, including a triple. She added four RBIs, one run, two walks, and a stolen base.

Emma Benner added two hits, including a home run, two runs, two RBIs, and a walk.

Carley Hoover finished with two hits with a double.

Williams and Sylvester each added two hits.

The Bears play their home opener with a doubleheader against Schoolcraft College at 1 PM on Sunday at the Mott Softball Diamond.
