Women's Basketball Dominates NCMC
Jayhawks on the road win going away 81-48.
The MCC women's basketball team played at North Central Michigan Saturday afternoon to play the Timberwolves in another conference matchup.
The Lady Jayhawks had a slow start in the first half of the game coming off a five-day break with no practice due to snow days. Despite the hindrance of Michigan weather, the Jayhawks went into halftime with a 23-point lead and restricted the Timberwolves from scoring in the second quarter completely. In the second half, the Jayhawks kicked it back into gear and finished the game off beating the Timberwolves 81-48.
Top players of the game were Tyvi Davis (#23) with a double-double of 22 points, 10 rebounds, 7 steals, and 1 assist. Anna Lundquist (#30) with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal, and 1 assist. Arrionna Williams (#20) with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Remi Sponseller (#12) with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.
Head coach Jason Cooper was pleased with the win; "It is always great to get a win on the road. We had some rust on us earlier in the battle, but we picked up the intensity in the second quarter which led us to our win."
Next game for the Lady Jayhawks is on Wednesday, January 29th, at Mid-Michigan College @5:30.
