Newark, NJ - The Lady Wolverines celebrated Sophomore night Saturday afternoon vs SUNY Orange, celebrating Sophomores Jakira Coar and Basirat Animashaun. Essex crusied to an 83-42 win, outscoring their opponents in every quarter but one. Jakira Coar and Basirat Animashaun led the Wolverines respectively with 28 and 20 points. The Wolverines would go on to shoot 42.9% from the field for the game and create suffocating defense, allowing their opponents to shoot only 23.1 % for the game as well.
Basirat also chipped in with 13 rebounds, with 4 blocks. Mia Marie Thomas chipped in with 3 assists.
Essex (5-13) returns to action Thursday at home vs Raritan Valley CC, with a 6pm tipoff. This is a rescheduled matchup from Feb. 6th.
