Baseball Season Ends in Ohio

PARMA, Ohio – The Mid Michigan College baseball team saw their season come to an end this past weekend, falling 2-1 in a best of three series in the NJCAA Region 12 Tournament to Cuyahoga Community College. 

Mid finished the year 27-17 overall and 17-8 in MCCAA Northern Conference play under first year head coach Danny Smith.

Game 1: 

The No. 2 seeded Triceratops defeated No. 7 seed Mid 6-3 in the first game on Thursday (May 8th) afternoon.

The Lakers got RBIs from Trey Boven, Nic Stimac, and Tyler Schultz. Jacob Kowalski took the loss on the mound, throwing five innings and striking out five. James Kenney, Logan Tenbrink, and Ty Gregory each pitched an inning of relief. 

Game 2: 

With their backs against the wall, the Lakers saved their season with an 8-7 victory in game two and forced a deciding third game on Friday. Mid's victory snapped a 41-game winning streak by Cuyahoga. Isiah Stoy saved the season for Mid with the game winning RBI in the bottom of the 10th inning.  

Eddie McDonald led Mid offensively with three RBIs, while Dillon Croff drove in two. David Wheeler got the start on the found and struck out one batter in five innings of work. Jordan Nelson pitched the final 2.2 innings for the Lakers to earn the win.

Game 3: 

Friday's finale saw the Lakers fall short in the end, losing 12-4 in seven innings. 

Justin Esch recorded two RBIs while Jayden Clark registered one. Donovan Heugh took the loss on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings and striking out one. Luke Sherman pitched the final 1.1 innings for Mid and struck out one.

The Lakers will return to the field in the fall and will look to build on this season.
